Awesome Day of YHWH
|
|
The Christians are on almost every television screen bringing the message that J.C is coming soon and they declare that they are happily awaiting his return. They cheer the war in Israel/Lebanon because they say it will bring an end to the world and they can go to heaven. Is this what Torah says about the great and awesome day of YHWH? Are we told to pray for that day to come soon? Whom do the Christians choose to sacrifice willingly in order that they may ‘go to heaven’? Whom have they declared to be ‘murderers of God”? Burning heat is a term often used for the wrath and anger of YHWH. It has been His shown benchmark for punishing with both natural happenings (storms, famines, droughts etc.) as well as wars which bring death, suffering, starvation and exile. Let us go through TaNaKh and see what is said in YHWH’s own words. The earth’s residents had become so wicked that YHWH determined to rid the world of their pollution. After the flood which destroyed every person except Noach and his family and those animals that he was ordered to take aboard the ark. We read here about the time when Noach and his family were to debark from the ark Bereshith (Gen) 8:18-22 18 And Noach, his sons, his wife, and his sons' wives went forth from the ark: 19 Every beast, every creeping thing, every fowl, and whatsoever creeps upon the earth also went forth out of the ark. 20 And Noach built an altar unto YHWH and took of every clean beast, every clean fowl and offered burnt offerings on the altar. 21 And YHWH smelled a sweet savor; and YHWH said in his heart, I will not again curse the ground any more for man's sake; for the imagination of man's heart is evil from his youth; neither will I again kill every thing living, as I have done. 22 While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease. Please note that as long as the earth remains, men shall sow and men will harvest. Also the weather will be cold and hot as we have seen in winter and summer all our lives. Day will continue to follow the night as long as the earth continues. As far as I can tell, the earth still remains. I am not attempting to be trite with my words for YHWH never said that we will not be punished when we turn from obeying Him and worship false gods and the works of our own hands. Quite the contrary, we are promised punishment when we ignore the admonition against stirring the anger of the Most High Creator. Brimstone, salt and burning , is this what we wish to bequeath to our children? Devariym (Deut) 29:22-27 22 So that the generation to come of your children that shall rise up after you, and the stranger that shall come from a far land, shall say, when they see the plagues of that land, and the sicknesses which YHWH has laid upon it; 23
And that the whole land is brimstone, salt and burning, that it
is not sown, nor bears, nor does any grass grow therein, like the
overthrow of 24 Even all nations shall say, for what reason has YHWH done this to this land? What is the meaning of the heat of this great anger? 25
Then men shall say, because they have forsaken the covenant of
YHWH Eloheykha of their fathers, which He made with them when He brought
them forth out of the 26 For they went and served other gods, and worshipped them, gods whom they knew not, and whom he had not given to them: 27 And the anger of YHWH was kindled against this land, to bring upon it all the curses that are written in this book: Disregarding the warnings from TN’K and going our own way has deadly consequences. Devariym (Deut) 32:20-25 20 And he said, I will hide My face from them, I will see what their end shall be: for they are a very stubborn generation, children in whom there is no faith. 21 They have moved Me to jealousy with that which is not god; they have provoked Me to anger with their vanities and I will move them to jealousy with those which are not a people; I will provoke them to anger with a foolish nation. 22 For a fire is kindled in My anger, it shall burn to the lowest grave, it shall consume the earth with her increase and set on fire the foundations of the mountains. 23 I will heap distress upon them. I will use all My arrows upon them. 24 They shall be empty and weakened with hunger, and battle burning heat, and with bitter destruction: I will also send the teeth of beasts upon them burning with the poison of serpents of the dust of the dried earth. 25 The sword outside, the terror inside, shall destroy the young man and the virgin, the baby and the gray haired elder. YesheYahu seems to refute the prayer of the Christians notion that we should pray for and welcome the end of days and the return of the one whom they worship. YesheYahu (Isa) 13:6-16 6 Howl for the day of YHWH is at hand; it shall come as a destruction from the Almighty. 7 Therefore shall all hands be faint, and every man's heart shall melt: 8 And they shall be afraid: pangs and sorrows shall take hold of them; they shall be in pain like a woman in travail: they shall be amazed one at another; their faces shall be as flames. 9 Behold, the day of YHWH comes, cruel with wrath and fierce anger, to lay the land desolate. He shall destroy the sinners out of the land. 10 For the stars and the constellations of the heavens shall not give their light: the sun shall be darkened in his going forth, and the moon shall not cause her light to shine. 11 And I will punish the world for their evil, the wicked for their iniquity. I will cause the arrogance of the proud to cease and will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible. 12 I will make a man rarer than fine gold; even a man than the golden wedge of Ophir. 13 Therefore I will shake the heavens, and the earth shall move out of her place, in the wrath of YHWH Tsavaowt, and in the day of His fierce anger. 14 And it shall be as the chased roe, and as a sheep that no man catches: they every man shall turn to his own people and flee every one into his own land. 15 Every one that is found shall be thrust through and every one that is joined unto them shall fall by the sword. 16 Their children also shall be dashed to pieces before their eyes; their houses shall be spoiled, and their wives ravished. This definitely is not a scenario that I would pray to come quickly. What we should pray for is for B’nei Yisrael to repent, turn to and cry out to YHWH and make the land holy. Yechizkiel warns us that Prophets of Israel have failed in their jobs and have lead the people astray but that does not give absolution to the people. Yechizkiel (Ezek) 13:4-5 4 O Israel, your prophets are like the foxes in the deserts. 5
You have not gone up into the gaps, neither made up the hedge for
the house of Yechizkiel (Ezek) 30:2-3 2 Son of man, prophesy and say, This is what YHWH Elohiym says, “Howl, be woeful worthy of the day! 3 For the day is near, even the day of YHWH is near, a cloudy day; it shall be the time of the heathen. Do we really desire the day of YHWH’s wrath and if the time of the heathen means they will be in charge (more than they are now), then surely we will not wish to hasten the day. Yahel (Joel) 1:13-15 13 Gird yourselves and lament, you priests: howl you ministers of the altar; come lie all night in sackcloth, you ministers of my Elohiym; for the meat offering and the drink offering is withheld from the house of your Elohiym. 14 Sanctify a fast, call a solemn assembly, gather the elders and all the inhabitants of the land into the house of YHWH Eloheykha and cry unto YHWH, 15 Alas for the day! For the day of YHWH is at hand and as destruction from the Almighty shall it come. Yahel (Joel) 2:1-3 1 Blow the trumpet in Tsiyown and sound an alarm in My holy mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the day of YHWH comes, for it is near at hand; 2 A day of darkness and of gloominess, a day of clouds and of thick darkness, as the morning spread upon the mountains: a great people and a strong; there has not been ever the like, neither shall be any more after it, even to the years of many generations. 3 A fire devours before them; and behind them a flame burns: the land is as the garden of Eden before them, and behind them a desolate wilderness; yes, and nothing shall escape them. We are told about the horror of the day and then told what we should, must do in order to make peace with YHWH and what we must do is surely not to call upon foreign gods. Yahel (Joel) 2:11-18 11 And YHWH shall utter His voice before His army: for His camp is very great: for He is strong that executes His word: for the day of YHWH is great and very terrible and who can abide it? 12 Therefore also now, says YHWH, turn to ME with all your heart, with fasting, with weeping and with mourning: 13 And rend your heart, not your garments and turn to YHWH Eloheykha: for He is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and He repents of the evil. 14 Who knows if He will return and repent and leave a blessing behind Him; even a meat offering and a drink offering unto YHWH Eloheykha? 15 Blow the trumpet in Tsiyown, sanctify a fast, call a solemn assembly: 16 Gather the people, sanctify the congregation, assemble the elders, gather the children, and the suckling babies, let the bridegroom go forth of his chamber, and the bride out of her closet. 17 Let the priests, the ministers of YHWH, weep between the porch and the altar, and let them say, Spare Your people, O YHWH, and do not give Your heritage to reproach, that the heathen should rule over them: for then they would say among the people, Where is their Elohiym? 18 Then YHWH will be jealous for His land and pity His people. Have we gone too far? Have we worshipped foreign gods? Have we allowed heathen worshippers of these gods to even set up churches, mosques etc within the very land that YHWH gave to Yisrael? What happened when Yisrael allowed the asherah poles, the groves, the high places to continue and not be torn down as YHWH had ordered? When will we look to TN’K to know what we should do, should pray for or try to avoid? Amotz (Amos) 5:18-20 18 Woe unto you that desire the day of YHWH! To what end is it for you? The day of YHWH is darkness, and not light. 19 As if a man fled from a lion, and a bear met him; or went into the house, and leaned his hand on the wall, and a serpent bit him. 20 Shall not the day of YHWH be darkness, and not light? Shall it be very dark, and no brightness in it? In His time, in His way, in His place… Malachi 4:5-6 5 Behold, I will send you EliYah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of YHWH: 6 And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse. When we turn back to Him, to honor, to love, to respect His word and therefore begin to obey Him without excuse then we may have shalom within our being. YesheYahu says: YesheYahu (Isa) 4:4-6 4 When YHWH shall have washed away the filth of the daughters of Tsiyown, and shall have purged the blood of Yerushalayim from the its midst by the spirit of judgment, and by the spirit of burning. 5
And YHWH will create upon every dwelling place of 6 And there shall be a tabernacle for a shadow in the daytime from the heat, and for a place of refuge, and for a covert from storm and from rain. Divrei Yamim Bet (2 Chr) 7:14-22 14 If My people, who are called by My name shall humble themselves, pray, seek My face and turn from their wicked ways; then I will hear from the heavens and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 15 Now My eyes shall be open and My ears will be attentive unto the prayer that is made in this place. 16 For now I have chosen and sanctified this house that My name may be there for ever: and My eyes and heart shall be there perpetually. 17 And as for you, if you will walk before Me, as David you father walked and do according to all that I have commanded you, and shall observe My statutes and My judgments; 18
Then will I establish the throne of your kingdom, according as I
have covenanted with David your father, saying, “There shall not fail
a man to be ruler in 19 But if you turn away, and forsake My statutes and My commandments, which I have set before you, and shall go and serve other gods, and worship them; 20 Then I will pluck them up by the roots out of my land which I have given them; and this house, which I have sanctified for My name, I will cast out of My sight, and will make it to be a proverb and a byword among all nations. 21 And this house, which is high, shall be an astonishing sight to every one that passes by it; so that he shall say, “Why has YHWH done this unto this land, and unto this house?” 22 And it shall be answered, “Because they have forsaken YHWH Eloheykha of their fathers, Who brought them forth out of the land of Mitzrayim, and took hold of other gods and worshipped them, served them: therefore He has brought all this evil upon them. Please pray for B'nei Yisrael . Pray they turn to YHWH and repent. Pray that ALL heathen gods and their devotees be removed from YHWH’s set apart land. Dan-el 9:16-19 16 O YHWH, in keeping with all Your righteous acts, turn away Your anger and Your wrath from Yerushalayim, Your city, Your holy hill. Our sins and the iniquities of our fathers have made Yerushalayim and Your people an object of scorn to all those around us. 17 "Now, our Elohiym, hear the prayers and petitions of your servant. For your sake, O YHWH, look with favor on Your desolate sanctuary. 18 Give ear, O Elohiym, and hear; open Your eyes and see the desolation of the city that bears Your Name. We do not make requests of You because we are righteous, but because of Your great mercy. 19 O YHWH, listen! O YHWH, forgive! O YHWH, hear and act! For Your sake, O my Elohiym, do not delay, because Your city and Your people bear your Name
