Then the word of YHWH came to me: 2
Now will you a son of earthly, mortal man, accuse, indict, judge
and convict her? Will you be that judge of such an encampment of
bloodshed? Then you must confront her with all her abominations. 3
Then say (to It): 'This is what Master YHWH says: City that
brings on herself doom by spilling blood in her midst and defiles
herself by making idols, 4
you have become guilty because of the blood you have shed and
have become defiled by the idols you have made. You have brought your
days to a close, and the end of your time is come. Therefore I will make
you an object of reproach to the heathen and a mockery to the whole
earth. 5
You will be ridiculed both near and far and you have become a
sullied name of abundant confusion. 6
"'See how each of the chief princes (Nasiy) of Yisrael who
are in you has used his power to spill blood. 7
In you they have trivialized both father and mother with
contempt; they have exploited the sojourner and oppressed the fatherless
and the widow within you. 8
You have despised My set apart implements and My Shabbats you
have defiled. 9
In you are slanderous men, intent on spilling blood. Their
thoughts are directed toward the mountains, they devour at once, they
plan working evil schemes within you. 10
Within you are those who shame the sanctity of their fathers'
bed; within you are those who violate women during their menstrual
period, when they are ceremonially unclean. 11
In you one man commits a detestable offense with his neighbor's
wife, another shamefully defiles his daughter-in-law, and another
violates his sister, his own father's daughter. 12
In you men accept bribes to shed blood; you enforce usury, making
excessive profit by interest and make unjust gain from your neighbors by
extortion. And you have forgotten Me, Master YHWH declares. 13
"'I will surely strike My palms together at the unjust gain
you have made and at the blood you have shed in your midst. 14
Will your courage endure or your hands be strong in the day I
deal with you? I YHWH have spoken, and I will do it. 15
I will disperse you among the nations and scatter you through the
countries; and I will put an end to your filthiness. 16
When you have been defiled in the eyes of the nations, you will
know that I am YHWH.'" 17
Then the word of YHWH came to me: 18
"Son of earthling man, the house of Yisrael has become a
repudiation to Me; all of them are the copper, tin, iron and lead left
inside a furnace. They are but the dross of silver (not usable for the
intended result). 19
Therefore this is what the Master YHWH says: 'Because you have
all become dross, I will gather you toward the teachers of peace
(Yerushalayim)
