Focus On Introspection |
As a mortal earthling man I find that my needs are few and manageable while my desires may be most numerous and burdensome. I believe that the essence of wisdom is being able to distinguish between these conflicting demands life presents. I believe that unfulfilled needs will lead to sorrows, despair then eventually to death. And yet, on the other hand, stifled desires have proven to be only a mild irritation. I have come to understand my real need to learn and to teach things of immortal substance to my fellow pursuers of wisdom. I see the great mass of humanity catapulting toward the abyss because they choose not to distinguish between the profane and the virtuous, wants and needs. They seem to equate affluence with wealth. Isn't affluence making enough money to drown the sirens voices of despair? Isn't wealth an amassment of secure treasure to become a perpetual inheritance? To me true wealth is outlined in scripture so perfectly and its source is exposed for anyone to discover. But first this mortal earthling man must humble himself and learn just whom he must obey. These five verses are pure gold to me and you will see the vault is open for the finder to plunder at will. It seems the 'God' of this world today is the false image of liberty, freedom, and prosperity. Vayikra 26 1. You shall not make, fashion or establish worthless images, raise up no stone to stand as a show piece. Do not even constitute in your land a place to give it reverence because I, YHWH am your Mighty One. 2. You shall keep My rests and you shall offer your reverence to My sanctuary. I am YHWH. 3. Walk in My ordinances, observe with careful focus so as to live by My commandments. 4. I shall give you bountiful showers in their proper time. And (I shall) assign full production from the land. The trees of the grove shall bear their fruit abundantly. 5. The new crop shall overcome the sorting sheds and that profusion will continue until the time of planting. You will feast on your abundance and dwell safely in your land. This is true wealth, the kind I wish to pass on to my 'children'. In this, my need to be a willing and beneficial instrument will be fulfilled. Oh that I should die, not having left behind some treasure for my 'children' to enjoy and be able to pass on to their loved ones. How sad it would be to find my life not written in the book spoken of by Daniel. 12:1-2 Dan 12:1B -- everyone whose name is found written in the book-- will be delivered. 2 Many who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake: some to an enduring life, others to shame and undying contempt. Can there be any doubt as to the priority of my need to be His instrument? I pray I might fill it to overflowing. My life would be wanting in the balance otherwise. |
